Next Steps

Here are a few items you will need to make sure you’ve taken care of between now and the fall.
  • Submit your final high school transcript.
Please ask your high school to send your final transcript, including date of graduation, to the address below before the beginning of the fall semester:

    University of the Incarnate Word

    Office of Admissions
    4301 Broadway, CPO 285
    San Antonio, TX 78209
  • Submit your proof of vaccination against meningitis to health services.
You can email them to healthsvcs@uiwtx.edu.
  • Apply for on-campus housing (if you plan to live on campus).
Information and applications are available at Residence Life website.
  • Fill out your pre-scheduling questionnaire.
The pre-scheduling questionnaire will be available on May 4, 2020. We recommend completing your pre-scheduling questionnaire as soon as possible, once available, to ensure preferred class allocation in the fall.
  • Contact the Business Office.
Students must pay tuition or enter a payment plan before the semester begins. Late fees will be assessed on delinquent accounts.
  • Submit your health insurance waiver (if needed).
All UIW students must have medical insurance. If you are insured by a family plan, please ensure you waive coverage through the University to avoid charges. Contact the Business Office for more information.
  1. Contact the Office of Financial Assistance.
Contact our financial aid staff to discuss your student’s grants, scholarships, loans and work study. Information is available at the  Financial Aid New to UIW page.
  2. Remind your student to submit proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination.
Send your student’s shot record to Health Services via email or by fax at (210) 829-3921. Please include the student’s date of birth and phone number.
  3. Remind your student to submit final documents before the beginning of the fall semester.
Students must submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:
    1. Official final high school transcript (including final GPA and graduation date).
    2. Students who took dual credit courses must submit an official college transcript.
    3. AP, ACT, SAT or IB test scores, if applicable.
  4. Remind your student to waive UIW insurance (if already covered by insurance).
If your student is already covered and will not need UIW insurance, he/she can waive it. Please include your student’s UIW ID on this waiver.
  5. Make sure your student has access to Cardinal Apps.
With their Cardinal Apps account, students can check their schedule, UIW e-mail, balances, etc. Please make sure your student has access to their UIW e-mail, as this is the official communication portal at UIW.
  6. Remind your student to apply for a parking permit.
Make sure your student applies for a parking permit through the Cardinal Cars section of Cardinal Apps. Decals will be available for pick up on your student’s selected orientation date.
  7. Sign up for a payment plan, if needed.
If your student needs a payment plan, please make sure he/she signs up on Cardinal Apps. More information can be found here at the Business Office Pay Your Bill page.
