Nov. 11:
What: Veteran's Day Ceremony           Time: 10 a.m.     Place: Marjorie Jordan Carillon (clock tower)  All UIW veterans, families of veterans, and friends of veterans are cordially invited to help honor those who have chosen to serve their nation through military service. Major General Richard D. Smith, former Commander of the San Antonio Air Logistics Center at Kelly Air Force Base, will be the guest speaker. Following the ceremony, a wreath will be placed by the UIW sign at 281 and Hildebrand.

Nov. 13:
What: Stuff the Bus for Visitation House & The Thrifty Sisters' Shop
Time:
8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for collection
Place:
Bus will be parked in front of the Admin. building. For more information, contact Dr. Mary Beth Swofford @ 829-3807 or Diana Howard @ 805-3552. New or gently used household items, appliances, books (even holy ones) and various knickknacks for homes. Please do not bring food or seasonal items.       All gifts are tax deductible. Receipts will be provided.

A special visit from elementary students

UIW played host to elementary students from St. Anthony and St. Peters on two different occasions. On Oct. 29, the UIW department hosted St. Peters students for a morning of non-violent play in observance of Peace Day. Students of St. Anthony came trick or treating dressed in their costumes and were treated with a haunted house by the Development Office.

Christmas Parties

The holiday seasons is fast approaching. The catering department would like to accommodate all your holiday needs. They are offering Christmas baskets of Starbucks filled with coffee, candles, teas and cups. You can also purchase Christmas cookies and brownies at $5.50/ dozen. Orders must be placed by Dec. 1. Please reserve your parties ASAP by calling ext. 5874.

The Distinguished Speaker Series is proud to present: Mr. Daniel Updegrove, Chief Information Officer of the University of Texas at Austin. Implications of Downloading Music: Legal, Ethical and Economic.

He has lectured and consulted widely in the U.S. and abroad, on IT strategic planning, networking, computer-based planning models, and computer gaming simulation.

Charlene Lynch from AdCap will be on medical leave for a month to donate a kidney to her daughter. We know this is a difficult time decision for Charlene's family. Please keep Charlene and her daughter in your prayers, as they will need everyone's blessings.

Looking for a Time Share

Owners are no longer able to use their time share week in the Perennial Vacation Club. The Week is fully paid for. The annual dues are $515 for a two-bedroom/2 bath full furnished condo in any of the following locations: Nevada: Lake Tahoe, Florida: Lakeland and Daytona Beach, Dominican Republic: Village Caraibe, Puerto Plata, Texas: Bandera Homestead.
