International Day of Service

Save the date, Sat., March 9 and take part in UIW’s First International Day of Service.

No matter where you are in the world, the Alumni Association is calling all Incarnate Word alumni to block off this date and serve your community in an Incarnate Word shirt. Afterwards, send in pictures to the alumni website with a brief description of your service.

Save the date for 3rd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt!

Save the date for Sat., March 23 and bring your kids and grandkids out to enjoy the UIW campus. Over 400 UIW alumni and friends joined us for the 2nd Annual UIW Community Easter Egg Hunt that partnered with all the Brainpower Connection schools.

Children through the age of 10 had the opportunity to hunt for Easter Eggs as well as participate in numerous fun activities such as face painting, coloring, cascaron painting, making bunny ears and chalking. For those who missed out on the fun this year, make sure to join us on Sat., March 23, 2013. If you are interested in volunteering to help make this event an even bigger success, email Steve Hemphill at hemphill@uiwtx. edu

More than 300 golfers participated. The 2011 auction party theme was “Mardi Gras” and included dinner featuring Cajun cuisine, live music, a raffle, and live and silent auctions. More than 800 guests celebrated the 30th anniversary of the annual Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show. UIW senior Cassidy Klein (right) swept the competition with her collection, Sweet & Sassy, designed for pre-teen girls. She went home with several awards, including the 2010 Best of Show.  She wanted to create fashions that were “fun, colorful and most importantly – age appropriate.”

Teams from the School of Nursing and Health Professions (pictured), the Feik School of Pharmacy and the Dreeben School of Education all helped raise funds for the cause. In its 6th year of participation, the pharmacy team of more than 45 members raised $7,000, the highest amount of the three schools.

The addition to Benson Stadium is progressing rapidly. The expansion will double the seating to accommodate 6,000 fans and will be complete in time for the first game of the season on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.

All who donated $1,000 or more are listed on the tree. Proceeds went toward the Faculty Development Fund and were given in honor of a person or faculty member who made a difference in the donor’s life.
