The University of the Incarnate Word presented the annual Red Dress Fashion Show and Health Fair, “Heart Health Around the World,” on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at UIW’s Marian Hall Ballroom.

The ninth annual event themed, “Heart Health Around the World,” promoted cardiac health in women and featured fashions designed and modeled by UIW students. The health fair, aimed at bringing awareness to the dangers of heart disease in women, boasted heart healthy appetizers, special activities and exhibits while providing information on the importance of maintaining a heart healthy lifestyle.

“The Red Dress Fashion Show and Health Fair also motivates students to take care of their hearts from a young age because heart disease can develop over the course of decades,” said Lee Ann Waltz, event coordinator for Red Dress and professor in the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions.

The event culminated with the Red Dress Fashion Show that showcased red garments specifically designed and constructed by UIW student designers. The Red Dress Fashion Show and Health Fair is held each year in support of the American Heart Association “Go Red” campaign.
