UIW enrollment reaches 8,455 studentsNov 29th, 2011 | Category: Campus News
Official figures released in September showed that the University of the Incarnate Word has topped the 8,000-mark in student enrollment for the first time in its 130-year history.
Overall, the university’s enrollment grew from 7,708 students in 2010 to 8,455 students in 2011. In comparison, there were 1,298 students at Incarnate Word in 1985 and 3,702 in 2000. Enrollment at UIW has increased every year but one since 1985.
“Our growth is due to a combination of factors,” said UIW President Dr. Louis Agnese. “We offer many cutting edge academic programs; excellent facilities; a top-notch faculty; and an inclusive faith-based environment that allows students to thrive.”
UIW offers nearly 80 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, an increase from the 56 that were offered in 1985. Among the new ones that UIW has added recently are doctoral programs in physical therapy and nursing practice.
