Total enrollment for the fall semester is 7,708, an increase of about 7.6 percent from 2009. UIW has experienced record-breaking enrollment for 24 of the past 25 years, with its enrollment more than doubling since 2000. UIW also set a new record for first-time full-time freshmen at 872, an increase of 164 from last year.

More than 90 percent of students receive financial assistance, with UIW awarding more than $100 million annually in scholarships, work-study, grants and loans.

In response to the challenges posed by the economy, UIW restructured scholarship programs last year and introduced a performance incentive award called Up-Grade Your Aid. This is an additional academic scholarship given to students at the main campus who complete 24 total credit hours in the previous fall and spring semesters and maintain a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average.
