Office 365 – Firefox Web Browser Issues

Update (May 7, 2014, 1:00pm) 

Closure Summary: On Friday, April 30, 2014, at approximately 6:00 PM UTC, engineers identified an issue that caused some customers to experience degraded functionality when accessing the Outlook Web App (OWA) with the Firefox internet browser. When accessing OWA with Firefox, the word-wrap feature did not function as expected during message composition. This issue did not occur when accessing OWA with other internet browsers. Investigation determined that a coding issue caused compatibility problems between OWA and the Firefox internet browser. Engineers developed a fix and deployed it across the affected capacity to remediate end-user impact. The issue was successfully fixed on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 6:30 AM UTC. A post-incident report will be available on the Service Health Dashboard within five business days.


Update (May 6, 2014, 7:00pm) 

Customer Impact: When using Outlook Web App (OWA) with Firefox as the Internet browser, word-wrap formatting does not function properly when composing an email message.

Workaround: As a workaround, customers are able to compose email messages with OWA using Internet Explorer. Incident Start Time: Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at approximately 8:00 PM UTC Estimated Time to Resolution: The remaining portion of the deployment process is expected to complete by Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 6:00 PM UTC.  (1:00 PM CST) Preliminary Root Cause: Investigation determined that a coding issue caused a compatibility problem with the Firefox Internet browser. Customer Impact: When accessing the Outlook Web App (OWA) with Firefox as the internet browser, word-wrap formatting does not function properly when composing a message.

Workaround: As a workaround, customers can access the Outlook Web App with Internet Explorer. Incident Start Time: Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 8:00 PM UTC Estimated Time to Resolution: The deployment process is taking longer than expected and is likely to complete by Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 at 11:00 PM UTC.  (6:00 PM CST) Preliminary Root Cause: Investigation determined that a coding issue caused compatibility issues with the Firefox internet browser.

When the Outlook Web App (OWA) is accessed with Firefox, the word-wrap feature does not function as expected when composing a message. This issue does not occur when using other internet browsers. Investigation determined that a coding issue caused compatibility issues with the Firefox browser. Engineers have developed a fix and are deploying it across the affected environment to mitigate end-user impact. As the fix is deployed across the affected environment the some customers will see feature restoration.
