Honor Societies

Alpha Chi (Junior & Senior)
The purpose of Alpha Chi is to promote and recognize scholarship and the elements of character that make for effective scholarship. Members of this national organization are from among the junior and senior class of UIW.

Alpha Lambda Delta (Freshmen)
The purpose of Alpha Lambda Delta is to promote and recognize scholarship and the elements of character that make for effective scholarship. Members of the national organization are from the freshman class of UIW.

Delta Mu Delta (Business)
Membership in this national society recognizes the hard work and high achievement of students in a business administration program. Networking and scholarship opportunities are available through this affiliation.

Honors Program
This is a four-year program that includes honors courses and co-curricular activities. High school students must apply for program admission as first-semester freshmen. Contact Jean Loden or (210) 832-3211.

Kappa Delta Epsilon (Education)
The goal of this organization is to unite education students and professional educators in an honorary professional organization. Members participate in campus and/or community service projects.

Kappa Gamma Pi
Kappa Gamma Pi, the National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society, exemplifies excellence in leadership, scholarship, faith, and service. The diverse membership serves as a network of motivated people who support each other and the wider community in the search for justice, compassion, and wisdom.

Nursing Honor Society
Membership in this group is recognition of superior achievement and leadership qualities in nursing. Its purpose is to foster high professional standards, encourage creative work and strengthen the commitment to the ideals and purpose of the nursing profession.

Phi Alpha Theta (History): Alpha Mu Phi - UIW Chapter
We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.

Phi Lambda Sigma (Pharmacy)

Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science)
Membership in this national organization recognizes academic achievement and interest in political science. Networking, scholarship and career opportunities are available as well as significant extracurricular activities. UIW also offers a local membership to this organization.

Sigma Tau Delta (English)
STD is an international honor society that promotes the mastery of written expression, encourages worthwhile reading and fosters a spirit of fellowship among those specializing in the English language and literature. Membership is subject to certain academic requirements, but open to all majors.
