Eligibility Requirements
To qualify to apply for the program, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a citizen of the U.S. or a permanent resident
- You must be an incoming freshman or a currently enrolled freshman or sophomore at the University, or a previous participant in a TRIO program.
You must meet one or more of the following conditions:
- Neither parent has graduated from a four-year institution of higher education
- Your family’s income is not over the limit set by the U.S. Department of Education
- You have documentation of a disability (i.e., sensory impaired, physical disability, or other documented disability)
And you must have a program-approved academic need as defined by one or more of the statements below:
- High school GPA of 2.5 or lower
- ACT score of 20 or below on any one subtest
- SAT total score of 920 or below
- SAT Math sub-score of 460 or below
- Placement into an ALRH and/or ALMA class
- College cumulative GPA of 2.0 or below
- Failing grades in one or more courses in a single semester
- Returning adult student (5 or more years have passed since you attended school)
- In danger of losing financial aid/scholarship due to GPA
- Are a “conditional admit” student
- Have been placed on academic probation or continued scholastic probation
- Are enrolled in a highly demanding and stressful course of study, including, but not limited to: nursing, pre-med, pre-pharmacy, pre-engineering, pre-veterinary sciences, and CART.
