Incarnate Word Day
The University of the Incarnate Word will celebrate a special day, Incarnate
Word Day, on March 25.
In the Church calendar, it is the feast of the Annunciation to Mary
that she was to be the Mother of the Incarnate Word (Luke 1:26-38). It
is our feast day, too, a day of joyful celebration for us as members of
the University of the Incarnate Word, said Sr. Audrey OMahony,
Assistant to the President for Mission Effectiveness.
This day is set aside each spring to celebrate the heritage and value
of Incarnate Word, because of its special and quite obvious relationship
to our institution.
Activities on campus begin with banners and balloons by students on campus
at 8 a.m. The Incarnate Word community will then gather at Our Ladys
Chapel for the awarding of the CCVI Spirit Award.
The CCVI Spirit Award is given each year to a member of the University
faculty, administration, or staff. This years recipient is Lorraine
Ewers, Administrative Secretary to the Dean of Humanities, Arts &
Soc. Sciences, who has been with UIW for 21 years.
