How to Apply

The application for the Class of 2019 is now open.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences. Application Process

For an applicant to receive full consideration, the following items must be submitted:

1. UIW Graduate Application

The UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences Program requires candidates to complete a Graduate Admissions application. The $20 graduate school application fee is not required.  For more information and instructions on waiving the fee, click here

Please indicate the Fall 2019 term as your anticipated start date. 

Create an account to start a new application. If you have completed a UIW degree and are seeking a second degree, you must complete a new application as a first-time user.

2. MBS Supplemental Application 

In addition to the Graduate Admissions application, a MBS Supplemental application is required. 

3. Supplemental Application Fee

Applicants to the MBS program pay a $50 non-refundable fee for the MBS Supplemental application only. The $20 Graduate Admissions application fee is not required.  

4. Official Transcript(s)

Applicants are required to send a transcript from each institution attended. This includes all undergraduate, graduate, and any health care professions education. Hard copies must be received in a sealed envelope with a signature across the closure to be considered official. Only one transcript per institution should be submitted. Applicants with outstanding prerequisites should have an updated transcript sent after the completion of coursework. Hard copy transcripts should be mailed to:

5. Letters of Reference

The UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences Program requires applicants to submit three letters of reference from someone to attest to the student's capacity for graduate level work. At least one reference letter should be submitted by a faculty member and one from a health care provider.  Letters of reference should be submitted on the recommender’s letterhead. Letters must be received in a sealed envelope with a signature across the closure to be considered official. Hard copy letters should be mailed to:

6. Pre-Professional Exam Score

The UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences Program requires applicants submit professional test scores based on their discipline choice. 

Pre Medical- submit the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) 

Dentistry- submit the Dental Admission Test (DAT)

Pharmacy, Physicians Assistant, Physical Therap- submit the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

Other pre-professional exam as appropriate

Scores should be submitted as follows:

GRE - request scores be sent directly to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office using code 6303.

MCAT - scores can be printed and mailed directly to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office to the address indicated below.  Electronic copies can be sent to admis@uiwtx.edu.  Indicate "MBS Candidate" in the subject line. The UIW MBS program will then verify the scores via the weblink using the verification code provided on the report.  Use the following link to access instructions and more information on this process:  (Mailing Official MCAT Score Report)

Other pre-professional exams - request scores be mailed directly to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office.
