Jessica Ibarra, Ph.D.
Dr. Jessica M. Ibarra, is an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at UIWSOM’s Department of Applied Biomedical Sciences. She holds a doctorate in Cellular and Structural Biology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she also completed her postdoctoral training. Her research included the study of inflammatory factors involved in chronic diseases such as heart failure, arthritis, and diabetes. When Dr. Ibarra is not teaching anatomy or physiology, she is mentoring students or involved in K-12 science outreach across the city. At UIW, she serves as Chair of the Faculty Development Fund Review Committee and Chair of the Hispanic Heritage Month Organizing Committee.
Dr. Ibarra is a native of San Antonio and enthusiastic about being a part of the UIW
