The Master of Arts in Administration Program is unique among graduate programs in South Texas in that it provides participants with core competencies in administration as well as essential knowledge, skills and abilities in the specialty areas listed below. The curriculum is designed to develop ethical and accountable administrators who are able to conceptualize and critically analyze complex organizational issues within their specialty areas and who are able to persuasively communicate toward a course of action that is in the best interests of those they serve. The Sport Management concentration provides you with unique expertise in Sport Management to qualify you for mid managerial positions in the sport industry and related fields.

Sport Management Course Descriptions

To fulfill the requirements for this MAA program and concentration, students must complete:

A. 18 semester hours of core coursework

ADMN 6310 Accounting Concepts and Issues
ORGD 6320 Organizational Behavior and Learning
SMGT 6375 Sport Governance and Legal Issues in a Global Environment
SMGT 6380 Sport Management, Administration, and Finance
SMGT 6390 Research and Decision Analysis in Sport Management 
ADMN 6375 Strategic Planning and Policy

B. 15 semester hours of coursework constituting the concentration, to include:

KEHP 6379 Adapted Physical Activity and Sport 
SMGT 6382 Human Resources in Sport Management
SMGT 6383 Internship in Sports Management (May be repeated once for credit)
SMGT 6384 Leadership and Organization in Sport Management

C. ORGD 63CS MAA Capstone (3 semester hours)
