  • Brief Academic and Teaching History

    Dr. Singel joined the Faye Miller School of Nursing in January 2009, after teaching at the University of Texas Health Science Center, School Of Nursing for 10 years. She coordinates and teaches the advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing course in the undergraduate program, both didactic and clinical supervision.  A former USAF Nurse Corps officer, Dr. Singel is the Air Force/Army ROTC faculty advisor for the School of Nursing student cadets.

  • Research Interests

    Dr. Singel’s research focus is in developing innovative teaching-learning strategies, boosting self-efficacy and academic performance in BSN students, incorporating resilience and persistence to graduation. Her theoretical frameworks for research projects are Self-Efficacy (Bandura) and Andragogy (Knowles).

    Dr. Singel is very involved with student recruitment and community outreach projects, including Blood Drives, Children’s Christmas Party at the Haven for Hope Shelter, Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, and other food and clothing drives. She is active with the UIW Catholic ministry and campus activities.
