  • Apply to BSN-DNP (FNP or PMHNP)

    Admission occurs in the Spring semester only.

    • FNP applications are accepted from May through mid-September. 
    • PMHNP applications are accepted from May through October.

    Applicants should apply to UIW’s BSN-DNP program through NursingCAS.

    • Visit www.nursingcas.org
    • Click “Apply Here” to initiate your application.
    • Click on “Create Account”
    • Complete the required fields in order to start your application.
    • Select UIW’s program in the “Full Programs List” section of the NursingCAS application.
    • If UIW is the first school you are applying to, you will be charged $70 and if UIW is the second you apply to via NursingCAS then you will be charged $35. You MUST pay this fee to submit your application to UIW.                                                                 

    Important Information concerning Uploading Documents to NursingCAS: You MUST release uploaded documents to be viewed by UIW. To do this:

    • Click “Program Materials”
    • Click “Documents”
    • Uploaded required documents by clicking "Add Document"

    Monitor the Status of Your Application:

    The “View My Notifications” section of the NursingCAS application will include any messages that NursingCAS or a school has sent to you.                              

    Messages will be sent to the “View My Notifications” inbox and your personal email address that you created your account with.

    Use the “Manage My Programs” option to check the status of your application including Transcripts, References, and Programs Selected. You can access your “Program Status” page in the “Manage My Programs” section of NursingCAS when logged into your account at https://nursingcas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/myPrograms/myProgramStatus      

    Note: you need to submit your application to monitor to the status. For visual instructions, visit http://www.nursingcas.org/status-checks.html

  • Submit Official Transcript
    • Send official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended directly to NursingCAS at the office below.

      Important Information Concerning Transcripts:

      • NursingCAS processes the transcripts on behalf of UIW.
      • Transcripts must be official and sent directly from your school’s Registrar’s Office.
      • NursingCAS cannot accept transcripts stamped “Issued to Student”.
      • In order to expedite the processing, be sure to include the Transcript Request Form.                                 
      • Transcripts from international institutions must be evaluated by a transcript evaluation service, World Education Services or Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. Foreign evaluations should be mailed to NursingCAS at the address above.                                 
      • The data entered into this section is used to calculate GPAs in order to make admissions decisions.                                 

       

      NOTE: You must input ALL (including in-progress course work) of your college level coursework into the NursingCAS application EXACTLY how it appears on your transcripts.                                          

      Reminder: The following is a list of prerequisite courses needed for admission into the BSN-DNP program. Candidates must have completed the course with a B or better, or be currently enrolled in the following courses to be considered for admission into the program:                              

      Transcripts must show completion of, or enrollment in, the prerequisite courses.

      • Undergraduate Statistics
      • Undergraduate Health Assessment

After acceptance to the BSN-DNP program complete the following:

  • Submit Copy of Current TX RN License

    Mail a copy of your current Texas or Multi-state compact license to:

  • Criminal Background Check

  • Immunization Record

  • Exposure Insurance

    Exposure Insurance or Needle Stick Coverage: Allied Health Professions Students are required to have insurance coverage for subsequent lab testing in the event of an exposure to blood or body fluids due to an accidental needle stick. If you have purchased the University's Student Health Insurance Plan, you are automatically covered. If you have private insurance, a rider is available for a nominal fee. This insurance in only available on-line. Please follow the instructions to obtain this rider:

    Log onto www.sas-mn.com

    • Select College, Student; Click on “look up school”
    • At the pull down menu select Texas
    • At the next pull down menu, select “University of the Incarnate Word—Domestic Students”
    • Select On line enrollment form
    • On this form provide all required information, Select Premium ($10.00) for the needle stick coverage for the year
    • Provide Credit Card Information and Electronic Signature
    • Submit and provide a copy of your receipt to Health Services
  • Additional Documentation After Admission into the DNP
    REQUIRED: Official Immunization records, CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers), OSHA, HIPAA, and PPE required.
