SMARRT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2008!
The SMARRT Project will be awarding partial scholarships toward the completion of Texas Teacher Certification and 18 hours toward a Master of Arts in Teaching in: Math 8-12, Life Science 8-12, or Elementary EC-4. The application deadline is April 1, 2008, with coursework starting in Summer 2008.
Candidates eligible for the SMARRT scholarships must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
- Have a GPA of 2.75 or above.
- Secondary applicants: must have completed 18-24 hours of college-level math courses or 18-24 hours Biology/Science.
- Elementary applicants: must have completed a total of 9-12 hours of college-level math and/or science courses.
- Meet all admissions requirements for the Dreeben School of Education’s Teacher Certification Program.
- Be United States citizens or have permanent residence status.
- Agree to teach in a high-need school in the areas of math, science, or elementary.
If you are interested in applying for a SMARRT scholarship, submit the following:
- A letter of interest describing why teaching is the profession you would like to pursue.
- Official transcripts from ALL institutions attended- even if one transcript reflects all college work.
- Copy of official GRE or THEA/TASP scores.
