The School of Media and Design (SMD) integrates dynamically five academic programs to serve better the needs of the Incarnate Word student. All programs within SMD emphasize the use of technology and provide students with a firm foundation in theory and application. UIW Student Crowned Miss Fiesta® San Antonio for 2012
Katie Marie Rivera, communication arts major at UIW, received the crown and scepter of Miss Fiesta® San Antonio for 2012 at McCombs Empire Theatre Saturday, March 3. Rivera will be participating in “Fiesta” events April 19-29.

Communication Arts: UIW Students Participated in “Proyecto
U”
Five UIW students participated in the first production
of “Proyecto U,” a new innovative educational partnership program that offers
students, from universities and colleges in San Antonio, comprehensive work
experience and coaching under the supervision of the Univision 41 news
department.

Of those who have applied for a job, more than 56 percent of computer science
majors in the class of 2011 already have received an offer, the NACE reports...the law of
supply and demand is pushing the average annual salary offer to just over
$63,000, making computer science one of the best paid majors in 2011.

Adams Invited to be Speaker for Forum
Congratulations to Dr.
Melinda Adams of fashion management who received an invitation from the Bexar
County Economic Development to participate as a local subject matter expert on
the U.S. fashion industry at a forum for delegates from the Hai Yang People’s
Congress and Sweater Industry Association.
