Faculty Awards


Faculty Endowment Research Award

The Faculty Development Endowment Fund was established to provide limited support for new and ongoing faculty research projects. The goal is to encourage collaborative and individual research efforts. Applications may propose budgets for supplies, books, equipment, travel related to research, and other expenses. Awards are not intended for travel to conferences. Awards are for research in a one-year period, from June 1 through May 31.  Multi-year projects require submission of proposals each year for evaluation. Individuals or groups may apply for awards up to $3,000.

Applications are due to the Office of Research Development no later than Friday, April 5, 2013 at 12:00 noon. Please refer to the guidelines below as the application and requirements have changed.

Faculty Workload Reassignment Award

The UIW Faculty Workload Reassignment Program was established to provide full-time faculty the opportunity to seek reassignment of workload responsibilities (25% time) in support of individual research and scholarship objectives relevant to their personal growth or to pursue special projects relevant to their departments or college/schools.  Awards are granted for either the Fall or Spring semester. Twelve one-semester workload reassignments will be awarded as part of the annual competition.

Feik School of Pharmacy Competitive Intramural Scientific Research Awards

The purpose of the competition is to encourage individual and collaborative scientific/biomedical research efforts of UIW faculty. It is expected that projects awarded will produce pilot data which will enable the investigator(s) to submit for external funding competitions sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), or private foundations in the year following the award.

Applications are due to the Office of Research Development no later than Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Please refer to the Request for Proposals and Application Instructions below.

Graduate Research Assistantship Award

The Graduate Research Assistantship Award Competition was established to provide faculty with research assistance for their scholarly endeavors leading to publication and to provide institutional financial support to graduate students within the context of a mentored research experience. The award is made for the Fall and Spring semesters, and any faculty member may re-apply for subsequent awards.

Student Awards


Student Research Fund Award

The Student Research Fund was established to support students engaged in independent scholarly research, scientific inquiry, inventive technology, and artistic/ creative activity.  The Student Research Fund is intended to help students pay extraordinary or unusual costs incurred in research projects.  

Grants will range up to $1,000. The amount will depend on the number of applications received, the budget available, and on the priority given the application by the selection committee.  Preference is given to applications submitted before the research project has been completed.

Student Travel Fund Award

The Student Travel Fund was established to support students engaged in independent scholarly research, scientific inquiry, inventive technology, and artistic/creative activity.  The Student Travel Fund supports student travel to meetings or events sponsored by professional organizations for the purpose of reporting the results of research, exhibiting or performing creative works, or otherwise disseminating results of their scholarly activity. This fund does not cover conference attendance for other purposes (e.g., as a non-presenting attendee or workshop participant), nor to present the findings of another’s scholarly work.  

Grants will range up to $600. The amount will depend on the number of applications received, the budget available, and on the priority given the application by the selection committee.  Preference is given to applications submitted before the travel has been completed.
