UIW Quarterback Club

Welcome Quarterback Club (QB Club) Members and prospective QB Club members, 2011 was a challenging year for UIW Football and we all weathered through the ups and downs very well, and now it's time to gear up for 2012!!

We are so excited to have Coach Larry Kennan join as head coach of UIW Football, he is a great asset to the university and the football program. Coach Kennan is keeping the entire coaching staff from 2011 and adding one new Special Teams Coordinator, Jake Zweig. We welcome Coach Kennan and Coach Zweig and send congratulations to all the other coaches.

The QB Club is the official "Booster Club" program for UIW Cardinals Football. Our goal is to garner a large membership that will show their support of the football program with their attendance at games, football events, and provide support however Coach Kennan and the team need us, whether its planning special events or assisting the team with fundraisers, we are here to support the football program. As the football program is growing and developing, so is the QB Club. Our success relies on our members and we hope you will join us.

Last year, we took a road trip to the Lamar Game (see Lamar tab for photos), which was a lot of fun and showed the team our support on the road and this year we plan on taking two bus trips, one to the Sam Houston State Game on September 8 and the other to the Texas A&M Kingsville game on October 13. QB Club members travel for free and if space is available, other guests will be invited for a nominal fee, but all is on a first come first served basis. More information will follow on the bus trips.

In September, the Lone Star Conference will host a series of games in Texas Stadium in Arlington, a great opportunity for our players to play in this fabulous, state-of-the-art facility. The QB Club will be there and will be hosting a brunch the morning of the game (at the writing of this article, the game is scheduled for Friday, September 14 at 3:30 p.m.) at the Tailgate Tavern located within walking distance to the stadium. We are also working with the UIW Athletics leadership to get a block of tickets for UIW attendees. Be watching for details. We are also working on obtaining a block of rooms at a nearby hotel.

The first home game is Saturday, September 1 at 7 pm against Texas College. That means we will also have our first 2012 QB Club Tailgate. For those of you who have attended in the past, things have changed once again. Tailgating will be moved back to the area between the stadium and tennis courts. We will have a prime space located field side behind the goal posts. This year, the QB Club will sponsor a procession of the football team from their team meal through the tailgate area to the field house, lead by live bagpipers. We did this for one game last year and it was awesome, so we've decided to make it a tradition and do it for every home game. For QB Club members, free food and refreshments (to include beer) await you at our tailgate and we look forward to seeing you all there.

One thing absent from the membership this year is access to the VIP Hospitality Room in the field house. This will have to be purchased separately when you purchase your game tickets.

Starting May 15, you can join the 2012 QB Club. There are two ways to join, one is to click the "Join Online" button on this page and pay by credit card, or you can click the "Print Form" button, print the form and mail to the address specified on the form. The forms also provide all the costs to join the QB Club.

For those of you who have been QB Club members, thank you for your past support and I look forward to seeing you again this year. For those that are new to the QB Club, welcome and we look forward to meeting and having a lot of fun with you during the 2012 football season.
