Itza Casanova, Administrative Assistant to the Provost 
Itza Casanova joined the UIW community in 1992 as a member of the staff at Incarnate Word High School where she served as the Principal’s secretary. In 1999, she joined the staff of the Office of the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, assisting Dr. Denise Doyle with various administrative and clerical tasks. Interaction with students, faculty, and university employees is as fulfilling and rewarding now as it was when she began.
Itza and John, her husband of 42 years, are native San Antonians. They enjoy family activities with their three daughters and son-in-laws and two grandsons!
Dr. Steve Wilson, Assistant to the Provost and Director of Assessment
After a 21-year career as a USAF Officer and 10 years as a VP with Operational Technologies 
Corporation, Dr. Wilson came to UIW in 1999 “dual-hatted” as the first university Chief Information Officer (CIO) and as the Director of Institutional Research. He left UIW in 2005 and joined Karta Technologies as deputy of its largest business group. Karta’s CEO asked Dr. Wilson to become the Director of Operations for the non-profit Sikh Research Institute in 2008. In June 2009, Dr. Wilson returned to UIW as the Assistant to the Provost, with additional responsibilities as the university’s Director of Assessment. Dr. Wilson has Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a specialization in telemedicine. He is a graduate of the National Senior Cryptologic School at the National Security Agency and the year-long Defense Intelligence Agency Postgraduate Intelligence Course (PGIC). He holds ISO 9000 International Lead Auditor Certification No. 3100974.
