Academic Programs

As the Provost, Dr. Light is the Chief Academic Officer at the University of the Incarnate Word. She is responsible for the academic vision and quality of education within the university in accordance with the university mission and strategic plan. She promotes a collegial faculty environment with the individual School and College Deans to attain significant levels of academic excellence and student achievement. The Provost promotes shared governance with the Deans and faculty through active collaboration and interactions with the Faculty Senate. The Provost is responsible for oversight of all academic, research, curricular, hiring, and promotion. Additionally, the Provost is actively engaged in creating an academic environment that maintains a strong focus on student learning, the pursuit of knowledge through research, and the development of faculty members who are fully engaged in the creation of engaging academic activities.
