Vincent Rodriguez
Assistant to the President/Communications
Vincent Rodriguez has been Assistant to the President/Communications at the University of the Incarnate Word since 2000.
A member of the President's Executive Council, Mr. Rodriguez facilitates communications with internal and external constituencies of the president. He also carries out special projects for the president, and serves as recorder for meetings of the Executive Council.
Mr. Rodriguez previously served as pop music critic for the Dallas Morning News; features writer at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times; sports and news reporter for the Dallas Times-Herald; and reporter (print and broadcast) for United Press International.
His past professional and academic honors include receipt of a First Place Award for arts and entertainment criticism from the Corpus Christi Press Club and a Special Service Award from the National Association of Black Journalists (University of Iowa chapter). Mr. Rodriguez also is a recipient of two national journalism awards - the Ruben Salazar Scholarship Award from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Freedom Forum Scholarship Award. He has twice been selected a member of the national Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism Honor Society.
Mr. Rodriguez's current and past professional memberships include the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists and the Dallas/Fort Worth Network of Hispanic Communicators.
Mr. Rodriguez has a Master of Arts in Journalism (with thesis) from the University of Iowa, where he was a Graduate Fellow. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Geography from Texas Christian University.
