Sister Walter is Vice President for Mission and Ministry at the University of the Incarnate Word. Her areas of responsibility include Mission, identity and ministry. Sister Walter was previously a General Councilor for the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
Sister Walter, who joined UIW in 1972, has also served the University as a librarian and International Student Advisor.
Sister Walter is a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio, Texas. Prior to her appointment to the CHRISTUS Health Board of Directors in 2009, she served for ten years as a Member of the CHRISTUS Health system. She’s also served on the Board of Governors of the St. Pj’s Children’s Home and serves in an advisory capacity for Medical Legal Assistance for Families, MLAF.
Sister Walter has a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University (TX); a Master of Arts in Library Science from Dominican University (IL); and a Bachelor of Arts in History and English from Incarnate Word College (now UIW).
