Dr. Yolanda Melendez joined the UIW School of Physical Therapy faculty full time in 2018 to serve as physical therapist and clinical instructor at the Methodist Health Ministries physical therapy clinic.
Yolanda grew up in a small town, Longmont, in Colorado and has worked in multiple setting in Texas, Colorado and Virginia before returning to Texas. She is a Physical Therapist of 24 years’ experience before coming to UIW. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Science from the University of Texas at El Paso, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Colorado Health Science Center and a post professional Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University. She is certified as an Exercise Expect for the Aging Adult and board certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatrics.
Yolanda’s passion has always been in being a lifelong learner and sharing that knowledge. She began being a Certified Clinical Instructor early in her career and is excited about a joint venture of opening Physical Therapy with Methodist Healthcare Ministries Dixon Clinic and being a Clinical Assistant Professor with UIW.
She has enjoyed living and exploring San Antonio and the great state she was born in, with her daughter, two dogs and a cat, and volunteers her time and money to Habitat for Humanity, Food for the Poor and 3rd graders Faith Formation class at St Brigid Catholic Church.
