Dr. Evan Petersen joined the UIW School of Physical Therapy faculty in Nov 2014 after retiring from active duty military service where he was serving as the Graduate Program Director and Assistant Professor of the Army-Baylor University Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. He has been a licensed physical therapist since 1999 and has practiced in outpatient orthopaedic clinics in the United States and overseas in Egypt, Germany, and Afghanistan. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Brigham Young University and holds a Master of Physical Therapy and Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Baylor University. He is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopaedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a full fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Dr. Petersen is an active researcher having published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured at numerous national and international physical therapy conferences. His research and education interests include orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation, manual physical therapy, differential diagnosis, and clinical reasoning. He and his wife LaDawn are the parents of four children and are active community members in church service, choral activities, and scouting.
