Scott Griggs

Dr. Griggs has joined the faculty of the Feik School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor in the Pharmacy Practice Department. Prior to his pharmacy education, Dr. Griggs received a BA in Classical Studies from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. A native Texan, he returned to Austin, where he received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. Dr. Griggs is currently completing his PhD in Pharmacy Administration at the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy. His thesis addresses the ethically challenging topic of Emergency Contraception use in university students. As a PhD graduate student in Austin, Dr. Griggs has taught a wide variety of topics both in and out of the College of Pharmacy: IV Admixtures Lab, Pharmacoeconomics, Immunizations, Advanced Pharmacotherapy Lab, Communications/Ethics, Experiential and Patient Counseling, as well as General Chemistry. In 2005, Dr. Griggs was honored with the Texas Excellence Teaching Award for his work as a TA at the University of Texas, College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Griggs became a licensed pharmacist in Texas in 2000 and a pharmacy preceptor in 2001. He has worked as a pharmacist in independent, retail chain, and university health center pharmacies, with particular interest in counseling and working with pharmacist interns.
Dr. Griggs was elected a member of Rho Chi (Nu Chapter) and was active as a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity at the University of Texas, College of Pharmacy. Additionally, Dr. Griggs is a member of AACP, APhA, and ISPOR.
His areas of interest include health care economics, drug reimportation, ethics, social issues, marketing, and management. His teaching will focus on management and economic issues in pharmacy.
