Feik School of Pharmacy

Drug Information Center

The purpose of the Drug Information Center (DIC) is to support the educational activities of the University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy (FSOP). The DIC mission is to provide the skills and house the resources needed to educate a doctor of pharmacy candidate in today's technologically advanced society. The DIC is an educational site for advanced level training with a Drug Information Specialty Practice Residency. In addition, the center acts as a preceptor site for the drug information requirements of Pharmacy Practice Residencies.

The DIC is also a service unit that supports the patient care programs of the School of Pharmacy, as an academic and consultative service that provides accurate, current, unbiased evidence-based drug information which promotes rational drug therapy to health care providers affiliated with UIW, including faculty and preceptors.

The DIC is housed on the main floor of the pharmacy building, room 458, and is the primary site for teaching drug information competencies including efficient retrieval skills, critically analyzing information, and accurately communication of the appropriate response through rotations, journal clubs and teaching. The DIC has access to the resources of the UIW Libraries, as well as specialized information resources.
