Dr. David Trang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He graduated with a Pharm.D. from Shenandoah University and M.B.A. from University of the Incarnate Word. He completed a fellowship in the AACP Academic Leadership Fellowship Program.
Dr. Trang was the only Assistant Pharmacy Manager to be promoted to District Manager in the history of Walmart and managed the #1 district in the company with over $100 million in sales annually. He was then promoted to Director of Professional Recruiting and College Relations and responsible for overseeing pharmacist and optometrist recruitment and staffing at more than 3600 Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club locations. He also managed the selection and training program for 1200 pharmacy interns representative of every pharmacy school in the U.S. His $20 million proposal for the new organizational structure of the professional recruiting department was accepted and implemented with a team of 30 professionals.
Dr. Trang serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Pharmacy Times and created the Annual AACP/Walmart Scholars Program. This scholars program has awarded more than 700 scholarships and $700,000 to pharmacy students interested in pursuing a career in academia. Dr. Trang is a member of ASPL and AACP.
Dr. Trang’s teaching and research interests include leadership, assessment, and law. He is the inventor of software programs used at a majority of schools of pharmacy. Dr. Trang also practices in the ER/Acute Care at San Antonio Military Medical Center and consults for numerous organizations. He has three children and enjoys playing tennis and golf.
