Feik School of Pharmacy

PharmD FAQs

Do you offer financial aid to your students?
Yes. You can find out more about what UIW has to offer by contacting the Financial Assistance Office - phone (210) 829-6008 or visiting their web site.

Can you explain the curriculum?
In order to apply and be accepted to the Pharm.D. program, all students will be expected to have completed the pre-pharmacy curriculum. This two-year group of courses is heavy in the sciences; however they have good grounding in other essential areas. If you already possess a bachelor's degree, you will not be asked to complete the general core requirements; however you must have completed the science courses in the prescribed curriculum.

How many of my credits can transfer into the UIW PharmD program?
UIW does not accept transfer credits into the professional program curriculum. The Feik School of Pharmacy is offered in a modified block format that assimilates pharmaceutical and basic sciences into a unique mosaic. Although this curriculum results in studies that cover the standard outcomes and much more, the pattern is not easily comparable to other schools. Therefore, at this point, there are no advance standing admission opportunities for applicants who have not matriculated in the Feik School of Pharmacy. This issue will be revisited periodically to determine if the current position remains the most productive for the school.

Since I am a certified pharmacy technician, will I be given increased consideration for the PharmD program?
As entrance to the Feik School of Pharmacy is an extremely competitive process, anything that you can do to enhance your portfolio is helpful. Internships, working in the field, additional science courses, and a high science GPA are seen as positive additions to your portfolio.

Is there credit for previous study or military / job experience?
Not at the professional level. All students must have completed pre-pharmacy requirements comparable to UIW’s pre-pharmacy program or have a recent degree that meets the requirements.

May I enroll on a part–time basis?
No, this is a classroom based program designed for full time study. Applications for part-time are not considered.
