Office of Research Development

What Can the ORD Do for You?

The Office of Research Development (ORD) was created in 2007 with the assistance of a National Institutes of Health Extramural Associates Research Development Award (EARDA). The ORD promotes and coordinates University-wide research activities and processes in support of the UIW Mission's dedication to the communication of truth and thoughtful innovation.

Need time, money, or an extra hand?

The ORD manages several internal awards for faculty including the Faculty Endowment Research Award, Graduate Research Assistant Award, Workload Reassignment Award, and FSOP Intramural Scientific Research Award. Find the right award for your needs and apply!

Working with a student researcher who needs support?

The ORD supports student researchers with the Student Research Award, Student Travel Award, and Undergraduate Research Award.

Planning to work with Human Subjects?

The ORD now serves as administrative support for the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB). Any research conducted by the UIW community that involves human subjects (or human subjects' data) must be submitted to and approved by the IRB.

Ready to apply for external funding?

The ORD can assist with funding searches based on your research interests and goals. We can also assist in organizing quality circle reviews and help prepare proposals.

Have a grant and need support?

The ORD will gladly assist in ensuring your project's success! We can: interpret compliance and reporting requirements, collaborate with University units to provide support, track implementation progress of extramural research projects, and help fulfill additional project needs.

Need to develop analytical tools or interpret data?

The ORD's Senior Research Statistician works in support of faculty and student research projects and can assist with quantitative research design and analysis of statistical data.

Want to share your work?

The ORD organizes research engagement activities, including UIW's annual Research Week and Biomedical Research Symposium. We also offer travel awards for students who have been accepted to present at conferences.

Not sure where to start?

The ORD can help you to meet your research and scholarship goals. Make an appointment to visit us and discuss your goals, needs, and ideas. We also conduct individual or group workshops on request!
