Office of Research Development

Research weekThe Office of Research Development (ORD) was created in 2007 with the assistance of a National Institutes of Health Extramural Associates Research Development Award (EARDA). The office promotes and coordinates university-wide research activities and processes in support of the UIW Mission dedication to the communication of truth and thoughtful innovation. The ORD is located in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies and is open to all university faculty, students, administrators, and staff. 


 Our Services

  • Funding Opportunities

    The Office of Research Development offers several opportunities and resources for faculty and students to find funding for their research and research related endeavors. The ORD manages internal awards for faculty and student researchers, assists with external funding searches, and provides support and resources for researchers seeking grants.

    Internal Funding

    Faculty awards include the Faculty Endowment Research Award (FERA), Graduate Research Assistant Award (GRA), and Faculty Workload Reassignment Award (FWRA). 

    Student awards include Student Research Fund Award, Student Travel Fund Award, and the Undergraduate Research Award. 

    External Funding 

    The ORD can assist with finding external funding opportunities based on research interest and goals. We can also assist with organizing quality circle reviews and help prepare proposals. 

  • Engagement

    The Office of Research Development organizes research engagement activities to provide opportunities for UIW researchers to showcase their work, including the annual Research Week. We provide support for teams hosting conferences or academic events on campus. The ORD also offers a variety of research training opportunities for the UIW community.   • Compliance

    The Office of Research Development serves as the hub for UIW's Institutional Review Board, clinical trial registration, responsible conduct of research, and university research policy operations. We conduct on-demand training as needed and will always gladly review proposals and active projects for continued compliance.

Dr. Wandless-Hagendorf coordinates the University's research compliance programs, including the Institutional Review Board, clinical trial registration, responsible conduct of research, and university research policy operations.
