Mass Cancellation Notice

UIW Holiday 4-Point Play
As a special holiday offering from Dr. David Jurenovich, vice president for enrollment management and student services, the UIW Ticket Office is offering a ticket package for any upcoming UIW basketball games (men or women), now through Jan. 1.

UIW Holiday 4-Point Play includes:

(4) tickets (general admission)
(4) hot dogs
(4) drinks

Cost: $44.00

UIW faculty and staff members can purchase this package and receive reserved chair-back seats instead of general admission. You can purchase this holiday special by calling or visiting the UIW Ticket Office located adjacent to the Alice P. McDermott Convocation Center at 210-805-3000.

UIW Men’s Basketball live on CSN
Southland Conference men’s basketball returns to Comcast SportsNet Houston (CSN). The Cardinals’ game against Sam Houston State at home will air live on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. Visit for compete channel listings. CSN is the television home for the most games and the most comprehensive coverage of the Houston Astros, Rockets, and Dynamo, and this season will produce and air live a total of five Southland Conference men’s basketball games.

December System Upgrade
The Enterprise Applications department will be performing a scheduled system upgrade beginning on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 6 p.m. until Sunday, Dec. 22 at 3 a.m. This upgrade includes Banner, Banner Self-Service, and BDMS/Xtender. Please expect the system downtime to be approximately 9 hours. If you have any questions, please contact your assigned Enterprise Applications representative.

Community News

Students, staff and families of Pre-K 4 SA South Education Center visited the UIW campus on Tuesday, Dec. 18 to view the Christmas lights and grounds of the university. The guests sang songs, decorated the crape myrtles, and created a thank you sign from Pre-K 4 SA on Dubuis Lawn. The event was part of Pre-K 4 SA’s goal to explore and learn about the city.

Administration Building Elevator Out of Service Notice
The Administration Building elevator will be out of service now until Dec. 23 for a motor replacement repair. It is expected to be finished on Dec. 20 or Dec. 23. It will not be operational for any reason. Please make necessary arrangements.

Appeal for the Faculty Refresh Laptops for the VITA Program
The Volunteers in Tax Assistance (VITA) Program has been relocated to JB 126 and has need for approximately 14 used laptops. If you have recently (or not so recently) participated in the faculty laptop refresh program, your donation would be greatly appreciated. The VITA Program provides free income tax preparation for the low income and elderly of our community. Our volunteers logged approximately 1900 community service hours last year. The VITA Program assisted nearly 350 taxpayers. Our clients are our students, staff, and the community. A laptop in any condition is welcome. Thank you for your consideration. DSE Faculty contribute to IGI Global publication
Dreeben School of Education faculty members Dr. Stephanie Grote-Garcia, assistant professor of teacher education; Dr. Norman St. Clair, assistant professor of teacher education; and Elda Martinez, associate professor of teacher education; contributed significant work to Academic Knowledge Construction and Multimodal Curriculum Development, a recent IGI Global publication, which was just released in November.

Madrigals Alumnae Christmas Concert
