Opening Mass for Pastoral Institute
On Tuesday, June 11, at 11:30 a.m. Fr. Tom Dymowski will celebrate the Opening Mass for the UIW Pastoral Institute in Our Lady's Chapel. All are invited to participate as there will be  no noon Mass on that day.

Agnese, Jr., UIW president, unveil a replica of a plaque honoring Artemisia Bowden at the grand opening and dedication ceremony for the Bowden Eye Care and Health Center located on San Antonio’s Eastside on Wednesday, June 5. Bowden, a local civic leader and pioneer for education, served as president of St. Phillip’s College for 52 years and is the center’s namesake. The plaque is permanently on display in the center’s foyer.

Center for Veterans Affairs hosts UIW Got Your 6 Lunch-n-Learn

School of Mathematics, Science & Engineering Summer Camps
The School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering's annual Science Summer Camp for top performing students, open to upcoming high school juniors and seniors, will be held July 8-July 12 for girls only and July 15-July19 for co-ed. A schedule will be provided to students who are accepted for camp attendance. Schedules will vary per day of the camp. Students will conduct hands-on lab exercises, get an inside look at labs, participate in team activities, meet UIW professors and researchers and get insight to survive and succeed in college. Each camp is open to the top 20 applicants from each group. The cost of the camp is $250 with $125 being due at the time of application. Students can apply at The deadline for applications is June 21. A $500 college scholarship is available to students who are accepted and choose to attend UIW during their freshman year of college. UIW Visual Identity Guidelines Presentation
All UIW employees are encouraged to attend a presentation on the new UIW visual identity (logo) guidelines that went into effect June 1, 2013. Several sessions will be held this summer to communicate the changes and updates to our existing policy. All personnel should plan to attend one of the sessions. UIW Summer Cross Country Camp
UIW’s cross country program will offer a summer cross country (running) camp for high school students ages 14-18, June 22-June 26, noon-8 p.m.  We cover all areas of competitive distance running to prepare runners for a successful fall cross country season. Register for 2013 UIW Cardinal Basketball Camp
Kids ages six to 16 are invited to attend the 2013 UIW Cardinal Basketball Camp to improve skills through individual instruction, drills, lectures and games. The two-week camp will take place 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, June 24-Thursday, June 27, and 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, June 28. The second week of camp will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, July 1-Friday, July 6 (please note: there will be no camp scheduled for Wednesday, July 4). Cost to attend is $175 the first week all-day or $150 half-day; and $165 the second week all-day or $140 half-day. UIW faculty and staff receive 20 percent off cost. Sr. Martha Ann Kirk writes obituary in memory of former UIW faculty member
Dr. Bernard J. Cooke, internationally respected theologian and former faculty member at UIW, died in the Village at Incarnate Word on May 31, his 91st birthday. Sr. Martha Ann Kirk, CCVI, professor of religious studies, composed the obituary on behalf of the family. Cooke’s obituary is posted on the Loyola Institute for Ministry’s webpage at His life will be celebrated in a Wake Service, Monday, June 10, 7 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Village at Incarnate Word, 4707 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209 (phone: (210) 829-7561). All are invited to share memories. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Jake Empereur, S.J., Tuesday, June 11, 10 a.m., Chapel of the Incarnate Word at the Motherhouse, 4503 Broadway. IWHS Annual Alumnae Dance
Join IWHS Alumnae Association for the Annual Dance at IWHS McGowen Gymnasium on Saturday, June 15, 8 p.m. - midnight. Come out for a night of socializing and dancing to the sounds of the band E7.
