Agnese signed a memorandum of understanding with Liu on behalf of the Shantex Group, LLC. The agreement will allow UIW fashion students to supply sweater designs to Chinese garment makers and, in return, UIW students will be provided internship opportunities in the industry. Sweater patterns were provided to Shantex by UIW and seven were chosen for manufacturing.The first sweaters manufactured were featured at UIW’s Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show also held Monday.

Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show

A record crowd of over 900 guests packed San Antonio’s Marriott Rivercenter Hotel on Monday, April 22, for UIW’s Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show held in memory of Kathleen Watson. The annual event, produced entirely by students, featured garments illustrated, designed and constructed by seniors in UIW’s Fashion Design program. UIW senior Ashley Pugh won the top awards taking home the Kathleen Watson Award for Best of Show as well as first place in construction and first place design for her collection titled “The Wedding Party.” Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show is an official Fiesta® event. Guests at this year’s show included Miss Fiesta San Antonio Victoria Flores and Larry Benson, El Rey Feo LXV. Proceeds from UIW’s Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show provide scholarships for UIW fashion management students. Since 2006, the fashion show, its sponsors and supporters have awarded more than $45,000 in scholarships to fashion management students.

Italian American Reconciliation
The UIW Theatre Department presents “Italian American Reconciliation,” by John Patrick Shanley, on April 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. in Cheever Downstage II Theatre. Congressional Student Forum
The UIW community is invited to attend a Congressional Student Forum, sponsored by the Institute for Civility in Government, on Wednesday, May 1, 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Grossman International Conference Center (ICC) Auditorium. Congressman Henry Cuellar and Congressman Lamar Smith will speak and take questions from students on the topic of Civility in Government. Faculty members are encouraged to bring classes and offer extra credit to those students who attend and ask a question. Life at Incarnate Word House with Sr. Margaret Patrice Slattery
The UIW community is invited to the Provost Office on Wednesday, May 1 for a celebration of "Life at Incarnate Word House with Sr. Margaret Patrice Slattery."  Refreshments and welcome will be held at 3 p.m. followed at 3:45 p.m. by Sr. Margaret Patrice Slattery, CCVI, sharing a personal glimpse of UIW during her tenure of service and residence at Incarnate Word House. 36th Annual Swing-In Auction Party & Golf Tournament
This year, UIW will host the 36th Annual Swing-In Auction Party & Golf Tournament. The event benefits the UIW Scholarship Fund. The Auction Party will be Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room and individual tickets are $100 per person. The Golf Tournament will be held Friday, May 3 at The Republic Golf Course. MS in Applied Statistics
UIW Mathematics Department is seeking applicants for its Master of Science in Applied Statistics. Please submit applications before April 30. SACHS and IWHS to have artwork featured in Battle of Flowers Parade
Students from both St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) and Incarnate Word High School (IWHS) will have their artwork featured in the Battle of Flowers Parade on Friday, April 26.Parade officials have asked the students to chalk the logo for this year’s parade on the street.The logo will be displayed on the TV coverage on Friday.

Banner Financial Aid Upgrade
The Enterprise Applications department will be upgrading the Banner Financial Aid Module to version 8.17.1. The Go Live for this upgrade is Saturday, April 27, midnight -1 a.m. Please note:  During the upgrade, the following systems will not be available during this one hour period:

•           Self Service Banner
•           INB Banner
•           Banner links in Portal

Benefits Open Enrollment Meetings
The Benefits Open Enrollment period for plan year 2013 - 2014 will begin Friday, April 19. Benefits Open Enrollment Meetings are scheduled April 29-May 3. During this period, UIW benefits eligible employees will have the opportunity to: change their insurance plans; add or drop dependents; increase their supplemental life insurance (Evidence of Insurability may be required); decrease their supplemental life insurance; and enroll in the Flexible Spending Account for plan year 2013-2014. The Humana NPOS 80/60 plan is being discontinued effective May 31, 2013. Employees on this plan will need to select another insurance plan.

SafeConnect Network Access Control
Technical Services will be implementing SafeConnect Network Access Control across UIW via wireless connections. SafeConnect allows Technical Services to identify and remedy compromised computers, ensuring a safe computing environment for the entire UIW Network.
What: TSS will begin isolated deployments of SafeConnect Network Access Control
Where: SafeConnect will be enabled on wireless connections at UIW.
When: Monday, April 29, 2013
How: The first time you browse the internet you will see the login screen (To view the login page, please click here). You will need your UIW Network username and your password to continue the SafeConnect process.
Notes:
• You will not be able to access the Internet until you have authenticated with SafeConnect and completed the SafeConnect process.
• Internet access will be enabled once you have successfully completed the SafeConnect process, which ensures your computer meets minimum security requirements.

Garden Workday
Learn about living a sustainable lifestyle, while beautifying the campus. Register for 2013 UIW Cardinal Basketball Camp
Kids ages six to 16 are invited to attend the 2013 UIW Cardinal Basketball Camp to improve skills through individual instruction, drills, lectures and games. The two-week camp will take place 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, June 24-Thursday, June 27, and 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, June 28. The second week of camp will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, July 1-Friday, July 6 (please note: there will be no camp scheduled for Wednesday, July 4). Cost to attend is $175 the first week all-day or $150 half-day; and $165 the second week all-day or $140 half-day. UIW faculty and staff receive 20 percent off cost. UIW Prep to offer classes at second location in Mexico
Dan Ochoa, dean of UIW Preparatory Programs, has returned from a trip to Guadalajara where he visited a CCVI high school. In the upcoming year, UIW Prep classes will be offered at this second location in Mexico.

IWHS Spring Concert "Songs of the Silvery Screen"
IWHS Chorale and Madrigals will perform their Spring Choral Concert entitled, "Songs of the Silvery Screen," on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Mt. Erin Hall on the IWHS campus. SACHS Spring Rummage Sale
St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) will host a Spring Rummage Sale on Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.,  at the SACHS Gym & Parking Lot (3200 McCullough San Antonio, TX, 78212). Headwaters Coalition Volunteer Work Day
