Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service

Join UIW’s Sometime Singers & Players, a group made up of faculty, staff, administrators and students (vocalists and instrumentalists) who cannot participate in weekly rehearsals and services, but who serve when possible at liturgical prayer throughout the school year.   • Fall Baccalaureate Mass: Friday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. (warm-up at the Convocation Center at 3:45 p.m.). Please attend two of the three rehearsals: Tuesday, Dec. 7 (vocalists), Wednesday, Dec. 8 (instrumentalists only), Thursday, Dec. 9 (vocalists and instrumentalists). All rehearsals are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Our Lady’s Chapel. RSVP by Wednesday, Dec. 1.
  • Christmas Eve Mass:  Thursday, Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. (warm-up for the Mass will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Our Lady's Chapel). Attend at least 2 rehearsals on Tuesday, Dec. 14, Thursday, Dec. 16 or Tuesday, Dec. 21. Everyone should attend the final rehearsal Thursday, Dec. 23. All rehearsals are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Our Lady’s Chapel. RSVP by Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Light the Way and Elf Louise Toy Donations
Join us at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. We’ll have great music and entertainment for the whole family, and once again we’ll be collecting new unwrapped toys for Elf Louise. Following the ceremony, join the candlelight procession through campus to Central Market for a complimentary reception. It’s free and everyone is welcome. For more information, call 829-6001. Heather Barton-Weston’s Dimensions of Wellness 3200 class prepares for the Blue Santa Jolly Jog/Walk that will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 30 beginning at Benson Stadium. Her class, along with the Chi Phi Fraternity, Delta Beta Chi Sorority, and Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity are co-hosting this one-mile benefit run. Tony Melendez Concert
UIW Mission and Ministry and STAND are sponsoring a concert with Tony Melendez to raise funds to build a school and church in Mede, Uganda, the African village UIW adopted as part of the Adopt-a-Village project. Melendez has played for Pope John Paul II and will play for Pope Benedict XVI next year at World Youth Day. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Dec. 19 in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room. Tickets cost $15.50, $24.50, $34.50 or $49.50. Cup Overfloweth Donations Needed
TRiO IAA, TRiO McNair, CARE, and the StandOUT Alliance are collecting mugs and toiletries that will go to families in transition. Items needed include coffee mugs to put items in (crack- and chip-free), unopened small toiletries such as sample/hotel shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc., new individually wrapped tea bags/instant coffee bags or any other small, thoughtful items for adults who are in transition. Send donated items to AD 225 or call (210) 805-5812 to arrange pick-up if needed. Fundraiser for Mabee Library
As a fundraiser for J.E. & L.E. Mabee Library, EZ’s Brick Oven & Grill will donate to Kappa Delta Epsilon, the honorary professional education fraternity, 20 percent of sales between 5-8 p.m. Nov. 22 at the 255 E. Basse location. Just place your receipt in the KDE donation box that evening.

Jingle Bell Raffle
Enter the Jingle Bell Raffle for a chance to win a $5,000 credit toward the credit card of your choice. Tickets cost $10 each. The winner will be drawn at Light the Way on Nov. 20. Angel of Hope Annual Candlelight Vigil
UIW will host one of San Antonio’s Angel of Hope annual candlelight vigils at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 at the Angel of Hope statue near the Grotto. Every year, a candlelight vigil is held to remember and honor all children who have died. The ceremony will include a special message, music, candle lighting, and laying of flowers at the base of the statue. Poinsettia Sale
To benefit the Campus Ministry GRACE Retreat and Jamaican Mission Trip, IWHS is holding its second annual poinsettia sale. Poinsettias cost $12 each, and orders of 10 or more will be sold at a discounted price of $10 each. Plants are in 6.5-inch decorative foil pots, have 5-7 red blooms and come in a handy carry sleeve to make transport home easy. Incarnate Word High School will hold a Breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 11 in the IWHS cafeteria. Breakfast with Santa
Please join us for Breakfast with Santa at St. Peter’s Parish Hall (on Cleveland between Marcia Place and Barilla Place just off Broadway, near the 50/50) on Sunday, Nov. 28 following the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses.
