The UIW Jazz Ensemble will perform at the St. Mary’s Fiesta Jazz Festival at 5 p.m. Friday, April 23 in the Pecan Grove at St. Mary’s University. Admission is free. Mexican-American Business Institute Meeting
The next Mexican-American Business Institute meeting will be on Cross-Cultural Consumer Behavior from noon – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28 at the ICC Conference Hall. Blackboard Learn 9.1
Blackboard Learn 9.1 is coming to UIW in August. Blackboard Learn 9.1 is the latest and most robust version of the Blackboard CMS. Although Blackboard 9.1 is easier to use, the instructor experience has changed significantly. The Department of Instructional Technology has identified several key features of Blackboard 9.1, and will be offering a variety of training opportunities during May, June and August to showcase these features. Session topics include:
- BB9 Overview: Following a demonstration, learn how to access the control panel, edit the course menu, and use notifications dashboard.
- Create Course Content: Learn how to generate course documents, create assignments, use the syllabus builder, and embed YouTube or iTunes content into a course.
- Assessment & Grade Center: Overview of the new features of Blackboard assessment, enhancements to the grade center, plus a demonstration of the Respondus LockDown Browser.
- Collaborative Tools: Summary of Blackboard’s collaborative tools including the Discussion Board, Learning Objects’ Wikis and Blogs, plus Wimba Pronto.

Help Us Host Homecoming 2010

We are looking to expand these types of events for 2010 and are looking for new and creative ideas. Sr. Martha Ann Kirk has been commissioned to write five articles in the areas of religious dance and drama for the Catholic Encyclopedia Supplement. She was also awarded a three-week research seminar "Case Studies in the History of Worship" funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.and co-sponsored by the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Her focus will be on liturgical dance and drama in the southwest and it will involve working with interviews, text and film.

SACHS Alumni Association Casino Night
The St. Anthony Catholic High School Alumni Association will hold its Texas Hold’Em and Casino Night on June 18 at the SACHS gymnasium. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games will be from 7-10 p.m. Tickets cost $50 per person for Casino Night, and there is a $50 buy-in for the Hold’em Tournament (seating is limited). There will be black jack, poker, roulette, slots and other tables games. All money raised will be allocated to the Alumni Scholarship fund. Denim and Diamonds Spring Bling Fling
St. Peter Prince of Apostles will hold the Denim and Diamonds Spring Bling Fling from 6-11 p.m. Saturday, May 1 in the St. Peter annex gym. Admission costs $100 and includes entry for two people, food, an open bar, babysitting, dancing and entry into the reverse raffle. Only 250 tickets will be sold to the reverse raffle. There will be 10 $50 winners, five $100 winners and one $5,000 grand prize winner. Silent auction baskets will also be available.
