Christmas Mass
There will be no midnight Mass this year. Christmas Eve Mass will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 in Our Lady’s Chapel. The pre-service music will begin at 4:40 p.m.

Payroll Invitation

KUIW Christmas Music Show
KUIW’s 4th annual Christmas music show will be broadcast on Dec. 22. Your host Hank McDonnell will play your favorite Christmas music from noon - 2 p.m. or until the music runs out. Phone in and make a request at 805- 5849. Merry Christmas from the students and faculty at – The Universe.

A Christmas Carol
The performance will be in the Elizabeth Huth Coates Theatre. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for non-UIW students and $9 for seniors. UIW students, faculty and staff receive one free ticket with ID. All proceeds from the production will benefit the Halligan-Ibbs Scholarship Endowment. For reservations, call 829-3800. Performance dates and times:

Holiday Food Service Hours
Regular hours for the Pharmacy Café begin Jan. 5. Regular hours for Marian Hall Café begin Friday, Jan. 9. Regular hours for Finnegan’s, the ICC Café, and Java on the Hill begin Monday, Jan. 12. Food service hours during class break are as follows:

 Hortencia’s Café

  • Monday – Fridaythrough Dec. 23 – 8 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Jan. 2 – 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Monday – Friday from Jan. 5-9 – 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Java on the Hill

  • Saturday/Sunday, Jan. 10-11– 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Campus Lock Down Information
To ensure the safety and security of our campus, Campus Police will be locking the UIW campus on Tuesday, Dec. 23 beginning at 6 p.m.Buildings and gates will remain locked until Friday, Jan. 2, when UIW reopens.Only the Burr Road entrance will be open, and anyone coming to campus must show a valid driver’s license and UIW ID if entering a facility. Anyone without proper identification will be asked to leave.

All building passes issued to students will be suspended during this time.Students will not have access to buildings without a professor escort or a memo from the presiding dean of that facility indicating permission for access. The memo must be received by Campus Police via e-mail before noon on Dec. 22.

The following UIW gates and buildings will open to accommodate events:

  • Saturday, Dec. 27:The ICC gates and the McCombs Center elevator access to the 5th floor will be open by noon for the event in the Sky Room.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31: The Convocation Center will be open by 10 a.m. for the women’s basketball game. The gates at the Hildebrand entrance with the traffic light and at the ICC will open at 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31: The ICC gates and the McCombs Center elevator access to the 5th floor will be open by noon for the event in the Sky Room.

If you have an event and you have not scheduled gate openings, please notify Campus Police by noon Dec. 22. Otherwise, all incoming traffic must be routed through Burr Road, and you must notify Campus Police who you are expecting.

High Schools

IWHS Madrigals Performance
Congratulations to the Incarnate Word High School’s Madrigal choir, which performed at the White House on Dec. 17 for the third time. Each year hundreds of children’s choirs, high school and college choirs, professional singers and professional instrumentalists are invited to submit their CDs for consideration. The Madrigals first visit to the White House was in 2002.They were invited to return in 2003.

Concert with IWHS Madrigals and Madrigal Alumnae
The Incarnate Word High School Madrigals and Madrigal Alumnae present “Warmth, Joy, Family, Friends,” an evening of Christmas music to benefit the Roger Labat Scholarship Fund. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22 in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word. Tickets cost $8 and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. SACHS Christmas Eve Mass
Christmas Eve Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 in the St. Anthony Chapel.
