Donate School Supplies
Ready to get rid of binders, school supplies, school clothes? Please don’t throw them out! Share them with students at Mexicano Centro Cristiano para los Sordos. Each year, a Texas mission team presents Vacation Bible School at this private Christian school for deaf children in Mexico. The Texas mission team will be delivering supplies to the school June 21. Donations will be accepted at Campus Ministry in the Chapel Building until June 19. Extended Run Players
The Extended Run Players of the University of the Incarnate Word will participate in the Senior Theatre USA Festival in Baltimore, Maryland, from June 10-15. Sr. Germaine Corbin, artistic director of the company, announced that members Maggie Hardy, Bettye Jo Shryock and Ron Spana will travel to Maryland to perform at the festival. Shryock and Spana will do the delightful one-act comedy of forgetfulness, "I'm Herbert" on Wednesday, June 11.On Friday, June 13, the three will be joined by two visiting actors, John E. LaGrone, from St. Louis, Mo.,and Clayton Edwardsfrom Falls Church, Va.This cast will givetwo performances of the touring version of "Memories on Review: Tales from WWII."During the festival Sr. Germaine will direct two workshops. The first on Wednesday, June 11 is called "Collecting Memories" and focuses on interviewing techniques used for collecting stories for the Extended Run Players' production of "Memories on Review: Tales from WWII." In addition, British director Pam Schweitzer'spopular program at Age Exchange in Blackheath, England, will be discussed as part of this workshop. The second workshop, "Do You Remember?" on Saturday, June 14, will be an interactive experience of using memories to transfer into performances. A cutting of one of the famous "Burns and Allen" radio show will be presented by Maggie Hardy and Ron Spana as a lead into generating memories. Using some of their own memories of old radio shows, childhood games, favorite food, etc.,the workshop participants will compose theatricalperformance pieces to share at the conclusion of the workshop.

Embroidery Class
The Institute of World Cultures presents “Embroidery from the Holy Land.” Come make beautiful Palestinian embroidery, enjoy music, stories and meditation.Rolla Alaydi, a doctoral student and native expert from the Holy Land will lead four sessions in the art of Palestinian embroidery. Sessions will take place for four weeks on Mondays beginning June 2 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Grossman International Conference Center. Cost is $45 and includes materials. UIW Summer Basketball Camp
The 2008 summer basketball camp is about to get started. If you know anyone who is interested, please let them know. The camp is available for children in 1st through 11th grade. There will be a 10 percent discount offered to UIW employees. Space is limited. The schedule and prices are below:

1st session: June 30 – July 3
2nd session: July 7 – July 11

Morning camp: 9 a.m. – Noon for $110
Afternoon camp: 1 – 4 p.m. for $110

All-day camp schedule:
1st Session: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for $130
2nd Session: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for $165
Two-Week Special All Day for $225

UIW Psychology Society participated in the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill-San Antonio’s NAMIWalk on Saturday, April 12 in Brackenridge Park. UIW was represented by 48 students who raised more than $1,500 for NAMI activities such as free family education, support groups and advocacy. The UIW Psych Society walk team was one of the largest groups in this year’s walk of more than 700 participants and one of the Walk’s largest donors.  Drs. Lisa Lockhart and María Félix-Ortiz of the Psychology Department accompanied the student group.

UIW announces master of science program

Learning Assistance Center summer hours
The Learning Assistance Center will be open for tutoring and testing by appointment Monday through Friday throughout the summer.Saturday testing is available once a month. During the summer, students may make up to three one-hour appointments per week per subject. The Learning Assistance Center is located in the Administration Building, Suite 206. To make an appointment, call 829-3870 or 829-3876.

Library Summer Hours
Library hours through Aug. 24. The library will be closed July 4-5 and Aug. 9-11,16, 23.
Monday, Thursday, Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday:Noon – 5 p.m.
Sunday:2 – 9 p.m.

Due to construction at the top of the hill, drivers will be able to go down from the ICC area to the UIW main campus, but will be unable to drive up to ICC from the main campus. The public will have to access the ICC from the Hildebrand or 281 entrances.
