Mission
Meet the Mission
To continue the traditions and Mission of the Sisters’ of Charity of the Incarnate Word, “Meet the Mission” was initiated in 2006. The traditions are those of providing service to less fortunate members of our community. The faculty’s Mission is to convey these traditions to our students. The university currently provides resources and seminars for faculty to improve their knowledge of Catholic social teachings and applications of these principles in the classroom. For these reasons, Meet the Mission was formed as an extension of the classroom rather than as an event. This allows faculty to teach students by doing and by living the example of the Mission of the university. This year’s Meet the Mission day of service will take place on Friday, Sept. 7. The steering committee members are: Sr. Audrey O'Mahony, assistant to the president, Mission Effectiveness (audrey@uiwtx.edu); Dr. Glenn Ambrose, assistant professor of religious studies (ambrose@uiwtx.edu); Dr. Roger Barnes, professor of sociology (barnes@uiwtx.edu); and Dr. Harold Rodinsky, assistant professor of psychology (rodinsky@uiwtx.edu). If you would like to participate in this year’s day of service, please contact a member of the committee.

Due to final renovations, the Chapel of the Incarnate Word will not hold a second Sunday Liturgy during August and September. The next second Sunday Liturgy in the Chapel will take place on Sunday, Oct. 14.
