The University of the Incarnate Word will host a concert featuring all world premieres of pieces written specifically for young pianists from 3 – 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25 in UIW’s Seddon Hall (new music building). The music will also be performed by young pianists who are currently studying with teachers in the San Antonio area. A book containing select pieces performed on the concert will be available for purchase at the event. The concert and book were conceived and the pieces written by members of the Composers Alliance of San Antonio (CASA). The event is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Rosenberg Sky Room Open House
The McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room will hold an open house on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. The 2015 theme is “Four Weddings” after the hit TLC show. A Call for Social Justice
The UIW Honors Program presents A Call for Social Justice at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb., 10 in Mabee Library Auditorium. Students will report and reflect on the people and organizations they witnessed during their three-day trip to the Rio Grande Valley in October 2014. The students traveled to the Valley to learn about the economic and social issues affecting this impoverished area. Students will also add their reflections on the legal issues and other constraints affecting the development of this region. Presentation attendees will find out how they can support these local groups and impact legislation to help residents of the border area help themselves. The event is free and open to the public. UIW's New Social Media/Communications Specialist
The UIW Office of Public Relations is proud to introduce Carl Myers as the university’s new Social Media/Communications Specialist. Carl replaces Jonathan Salas who previously served in the position. Carl’s duties at UIW include planning and implementing comprehensive social media strategies to maintain the university’s brand. He also manages the daily employee newsletter. He most recently served as Marketing Copywriter and Social Media Specialist at Rainman Creative, a local advertising and marketing agency. He holds a Bachelor of Communication Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Business Administration from Hope International University in Fullerton, CA. ADCaP and UIW Online Spring Information Session

iPad User's Group Meeting
During fall break, seven UIW faculty and staff attended a two-day training course called the iPad iFilm Festival. They learned how to create, edit and produce short videos using an iPad, a tripod and a few simple apps. The discussion moderator is Trey Guinn of the Communication Arts Department. In teaching, enriching the first five minutes of class is an area where small changes can have big pay-offs. Trip to the TCEA Conference in Austin
The Department of Instructional Technology invites faculty on a field trip to explore the latest in educational technology. Join us as we travel to Austin on a one-day trip to the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Conference. At the conference, you will have the opportunity to visit more than 800 educational technology exhibits and experience the latest technology solutions and learn from vendors and colleagues. The plan is to leave UIW at about 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4 and depart Austin around 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be on your own. Instructional technology will purchase the entrance fee to the exhibit hall for all who attend. There is a limit of 12 guests, and signup is on a first-come, first-served basis. Celebrate the Release of the Reach Out Africa Book

WGC Immersion Trip Information Meeting
Immersion trips are a great opportunity for cross-cultural learning and working with the groups the Women’s Global Connection serves.
