The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is seeking applicants for its Master of Science in Applied Statistics graduate program. This degree will provide students with a comprehensive study of the theory and applications of probability and statistics with specific emphasis in solving practical problems. Upon completion of the degree, students will be prepared for careers as applied statisticians in a many fields including medicine, biology, banking, insurance, environmental science and manufacturing.
In addition, UIW‘s department of mathematics has received a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture through the National Institute of Food and Agriculture to implement a statistical consulting laboratory into this program. This cohort will begin with a summer preparation course and then proceed through the five-semester graduate statistics program. This is an evening program and is ideal for both working professionals and full time students
As part of the grant UIW has the funds to fully support one student and provide a stipend to 11 others. Also, in each academic year a select number of students will be sponsored to attend national and regional conferences. As part of their study program, students will tutor undergraduate statistic students and work with industry clients.
