UIW listed as 2013 Military Friendly School

San Antonio – For the fourth year in a row, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) has been listed as a military friendly school by G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. UIW ranks in the top 15% of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide as doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.

“UIW is proud to be recognized for the important work we do for our military students for the fourth consecutive year,” said Dr. Cyndi Wilson Porter, vice president for extended academic programs. “We recognize the sacrifices made by the men and women in military service for our freedoms and are dedicated to ensuring they get a quality, affordable and convenient educational experience.”

Schools on the military friendly list have demonstrated a strong interest in recruiting and retaining military students by the programs offered and the services made available to military personnel and their families.  The G.I. Jobs website, www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, features a list of military friendly schools, interactive tools and search functionality to assist military veterans with their school decisions.

Former Active Duty and now reserves Army. I got my Master’s in May and am back for an MBA. I did not want to be anywhere else considering how well I have been treated at UIW as a veteran.

I am also a OIF veteran and can’t say enough about how well I’ve been treated at UIW. ADcAp is an awesome program and so are the support staff !! Thank you all so much. If this is read by any other vets, what are your thoughts on a student veteran support assoc? Help incoming veterans and current vets with transition to academic life.

I’m retired U.S. Air Force and have decided on UIW for my graduate studies. My first term is coming up. So far so good. The vets office has been really helpful. Thanks for being a vet freindly campus!
