UIW is proud to announce that Michael D. Moon, MSN, RN, CNS-CC, CEN, FAEN has been elected to the National Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors for a three year term beginning January 2012.
Moon is a faculty member in UIW’s Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing. His 24-year nursing career includes working as a critical care staff nurse, emergency trauma staff nurse, nurse educator and charge nurse.
He is a national speaker on emergency nursing and leadership issues and has testified before the Texas Legislature on trauma care. Moon is a contributing author to several journals and is currently an item writer for the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.
He has served as the Texas ENA state president and is a fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing. Moon is listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, was named Teacher of the Year by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Student Center and has received the South Texas Image Maker Award. He is a charter member of the Iota Mu chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the Golden Key Honor Society and the Pi Lamda Theta Honor Society.
Moon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center.
