UIW Saxophone Instructor
Teacher/musician - woodwind specialist: He began playing saxophone in 1958 with the renowned East Atlanta Elementary Band under the direction of Charles I. Bradley. He was the first chair alto saxophone in the Georgia All-State Band, in both, his junior and senior years in High School, He earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Georgia in 1970 and a Master of Music Education / Woodwind Performance degree from Texas State University in 1994. His first fulltime public school teaching job was in 1970 with the Dekalb County School District in Decatur, Georgia as an elementary band director. He has taught music in public and private schools, as a band director and as a private music lesson instructor at the Elementary, Middle School, High School and College level. He has conducted many school jazz bands and concert bands. In concert he has directed the University of Georgia Symphonic Band, and the US Army Pacific Area Headquarters Band. In his capacity as music director/arranger for B. J. Thomas he conducted the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
     He began playing professionally in Atlanta Ga. at the age of 16. In Atlanta he worked as a sideman and as a studio musician. He has recorded record albums, jingles, movie sound tracks, sound-a-likes, and TV documentaries. He has toured in the U.S.A., Asia, Europe, Caribbean Islands and Central America. He has played with such entertainers as:  Tom Jones, Gladys Knight, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, Michael Feinstein, Diane Schurr, Mel Torme, Bert Bacharach, Natalie Cole, Shirley Bassey, Steve Allen, Bob Eberly, Helen O’Connell, Debbie Reynolds, Tony Bennett, Tito Puente Jr., Duke Pearson, Johnny Mathis, Cab Calloway, Skitch Henderson, Supremes, Pointer Sisters, Lou Rawls, Platters, Clarence Carter, Joe South, Four Tops, The Temptations, B. J.
