Master of Science: Nursing
Designed for the student seeking a Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical focus in CNL or CNS roles, this flexible program of study allows the student to select the aggregate or group of clients with whom he or she wishes to work. Students have opportunities to work with groups of people who have a common health care need in both acute care and community settings. The individual student focus is to work with groups with health disparities.
Unique features of this master’s program include:
- A focus on cross-cultural perspectives of health behaviors and values and illness care, with an emphasis on aggregates with health disparities.
- Active recruitment of students and faculty from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds to enrich student learning.
- Preparation of Clinical Nurse Leaders and Clinical Nurse Specialists with population-focused skills which enable them to develop and execute nursing programs and services for groups of clients with common health care problems.
The program of study for students consists of a minimum of 36-semester hours for the CNL role and 41 hours for the CNS role. This can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Classes are generally held in the evenings to accommodate working students.
