CCVI Acts of Chapter

Introduction

Every six years, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word hold a meeting of the entire Congregation (called a General Chapter) to determine a focus for the next six years. The results are known as the “Acts of Chapter.” Among the directions set at the 2002 General Chapter are the following which intersect with the Mission of UIW:

In a world that hungers for God in the midst of increasing violence, alienation, fractured relationships, and growing injustices, we, the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in our various forms of commitment, reflect the love and compassion of God through our incarnational spirituality, our personal relationships, our use of resources and our service, especially among the most vulnerable.

We choose to be a prophetic voice, proclaiming the Good News, birthing the Word and living God's justice in our global society.

Refounding

We respond to the call to refound our congregation, by living our Charism and Incarnational Spirituality, by nurturing our contemplative dimension and by revitalizing our missionary spirit in solidarity with all people, especially the poor and marginalized.

Prophetic Witness for Social Justice

We strive to be a prophetic witness, strengthening the Congregational commitment to social justice through social analysis, theological reflection, an optimization of our resources, and evaluation of our response to the needs according to the sign of the times.

Multiculturalism

We affirm the Congregation's multiculturalism through developing holistic programs that promote the interchange and knowledge of the cultures that comprise our CCVI reality and places of ministry, evangelizing and being evangelized, so that we may witness to unity in mission in a globalized world.
