Cardinals for Kids is a UIW student led ministry organization under the directon of the office of University Mission & Ministry. The purpose of the organization is to raise funds and awareness for children with the greatest health needs in San Antonio. Funds raised benefit The Children's Hospital of San Antonio Foundation.
Austin Lazo currently serves as Chief of Staff for Cardinals for Kids and as Chair of Fundraising for Cardinals for Kids Winter Eve Gala. He joined Cardinals for Kids in the Fall of 2014 and has been committed to this organization ever since. During his previous role as Director of Operations, he helped execute three major events including: Dodge-For-A-Cure, Winter’s Eve Gala, and Cardinal Dance Marathon, which brought in a grand total of $45,000 to the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. Austin’s love for community service has brought him to this organization. He hopes for better and stronger events to help raise more money. He is confident that his past experiences will allow him to be successful at achieving this goal. With these new roles, he will learn and grow more as an officer and also as an individual. He wants to remind everyone why we do this: FOR THE KIDS.
Dina joined Cardinals for Kids in an effort to support the community and bring awareness of our organization to the university. She was introduced to the organization by hometown friends and had the opportunity to join last year as a first year student. Along with Cardinals for Kids, Dina participated in community service events hosted by the university including Meet the Mission, and the Cardinal Overnighter, a student recruitment event sponosred by UIW Admission. She also served at the Catholic Worker house throughout her freshman year. As a second year student, Dina is happy to serve Cardinals for Kids as Director of Public Relations, a position that includes CFK’s events to benefit our miracle children. Dina is currently a Chemistry-Prepharmacy major and enjoys in-line skating and spending time with her family.

Justin initially joined CFK May 2014 because of a friend and wanted to make a difference. Since then, he's never looked back. Making a difference in the children's lives brings him an incredible amount of joy.
Justin's greatest hobby is soccer. His passion for watching and playing the game is unmatched. In Fall 2014, he played club soccer at UIW and for a San Antonio Men's Premier Team. When he isn't playing soccer, Justin is either studying, working out, or with friends.
Karissa Vigil has been a part of the University of the Incarnate Word’s Mission & Ministry team since her freshman year in 2012.
