Mass

A goal of University Mission & Ministry is to promote a vibrant worshiping community at the University of the Incarnate Word.. We bring together all members of the University community to serve and celebrate the traditional rites of the Catholic Church.

Education and leadership formation are at the forefront of our efforts. By involving students in every aspect of liturgical ministry, we have created an opportunity for them to understand and shape the sacred liturgies of the Church. All university liturgies, from the daily masses to the Baccalaureate, are student coordinated, under the direction of the Liturgy & Music staff.  It is our wish that these experiences will attribute to the formation of our students as lay leaders in their home parishes, and in the greater Church

OUR LADY'S CHAPEL

Located on the first floor of the Administration Building,
weekday and weekend liturgies are celebrated year round.

 

WEEKDAYS: Monday through Thursday 12:00 pm Spanish Mass Friday's 12:00 pm	SUNDAYS: 10:30 am (Year round) 8:00 pm (during school year)
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confessions) Fridays 11:30 am or by appointment with Fr. Tom Dymowski, O.SS.T 210-829-3131 or dymowski@uiwtx.edu

 

Liturgical Ministries

You are invited to be an important part of the liturgies on campus by serving in one of the following ministries.

Minister of Hospitality - welcome people as they arrive, hand out hymnals, take up the collection and distribute bulletins

Altar Server – Assists the priest in preparing the altar and assisting at our liturgical services

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion - share the Body and Blood of Christ during our Eucharistic celebrations.

Lector - proclaim the scriptures and pray for the intentions of the community

Environment - assist in decorating the chapel for the liturgical seasons

Individual training for each of the ministries can be arranged. If you are already trained, just let us know so that you can start ministering here on campus. To sign up for any of these ministries or to be trained, please call the Campus Ministry Office at 829-3128.

 

MUSIC MINISTRIES

Laudate Choir - 10:30 am Sunday Mass
The Laudate Choir practices on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 7:00 pm in Our Lady's Chapel with warm up on Sundays at 9:45 am. For more information contact the Music Ministry Office @ 210-832-3207

Jubilate Choir - 8:00 p.m. Sunday Mass
The Laudate Choir meets at 6:15 p.m. in Our Lady's Chapel prior to the 8:00 pm Mass.  For more information, contact the Music Ministry Office at 210-832-3207.
