Daniel G. Dominguez, PhD., MHA is an Associate Professor of Health Administration in the HEB School of Business and Administration and the Director of the Master of Health Administration Program. Dr. Dominguez has more than 20 years of health management experience in a wide variety of health care settings including hospitals and primary care organizations. His background includes roles in logistics, information management and health care operations, to include serving as COO of a full-service ambulatory care facility. In addition to his operational experience, he has over ten years experience teaching and researching at the graduate level. He received an MHA from Baylor University and a Ph.D. in Health Management and Policy from the University of Iowa. His current teaching and research interests center on leadership development, CQI in healthcare delivery, and global best practices in healthcare management. |
Kevin LaFrance, Associate Professor |
Kevin LaFrance, MBA, PhD., FACHE is an associate professor of health care administration in the HEB School of Business and Administration. Dr. LaFrance has more than 25 years of health management experience in a wide variety of health care settings including hospitals and primary care organizations. His background includes roles in finance, logistics and health care operations, culminating most recently as chief financial officer for a ten hospital system. In addition to his operational experience, he has over ten years of experience teaching and researching at the college level. He received his M.B.A. from Syracuse University and his Ph.D. from the School of Health Related Professions, University of Alabama at Birmingham. His research interests include strategic management, health care leadership, consumer satisfaction and managed care. |
Chris Garcia, Assistant Professor |
Chris Garcia, MBA, PhD., FACHE, is an Assistant Professor of Health Administration in the HEB School of Business and Administration. Dr. Garcia has more than 20 years of health management experience in a wide variety of health care settings including hospitals and primary care organizations. Her background includes roles in patient administrative services, public affairs, facilities planning, and health care operations, to include serving as COO of a dental center and a full-service afloat hospital. In addition to her operational experience, she has extensive experience in project management. She received her MBA degree with a healthcare concentration from Florida State University and her Ph.D. in Healthcare Administration and Policy from the Pennsylvania State University. Her current research interests center on how to improve access to care to underserved and uninsured populations with a special emphasis on federally funded community health centers and development of inter-organizational relationships. |
Richard Priore, Adjunct Faculty |
Richard J. Priore, MPA, MHA, Sc.D., is Executive Practitioner-Scholar and Adjunct Professor of Health Administration, in the HEB School of Business and Administration. Rich has nearly 18 years of healthcare leadership experience in the public and private (not-for-profit and for-profit) sectors in acute and specialty care hospitals and health systems and physician practices. He is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Nix Health in San Antonio where he is responsible for corporate development and oversees a 24-physician multi-specialty provider-based group practice. He earned an MHA from Baylor University and an MPA from the University of Maryland University College. He is board certified in healthcare management and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a board certified Medical Practice Executive in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at various universities and colleges over the past 7 years and is currently an adjunct faculty member teaching at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mr. Priore is a Doctor of Science candidate in Health Systems Management at Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with a research focus on physician-hospital relations and alignment. |

Linda Brandmiller, Adjunct Faculty |
Linda A. Brandmiller, J.D., MAIS, CHES, is an Adjunct Professor of Health Law and International Business Law in the HEB School of Business and Administration. Dr. Brandmiller earned her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and has been a presenter at numerous local, state, national and international conferences and meetings. Prior to her current job as an Immigration Attorney, Dr. Brandmiller served as an Assistant Attorney General and also worked in employment law for both plaintiffs and defendants. She has over twenty years experience in the non-profit health care arena, including serving as the Executive Director of a Federally Qualified Community Health Center and legal support in the Litigation/Insurance Department of the Baptist Health System in San Antonio. In addition to her legal and health administration careers, her background includes roles in human resources, health education, board/staff development and training, and grant writing. She received her Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Spanish and Psychology from TX A&M International University and is a Certified Health Education Specialist. Her current research interests center on the intersection of immigration/human rights and health care access and delivery with a special emphasis on identifying and serving the immigrant victims of crime, domestic violence and human trafficking. |
Mark Teachout, Associate Professor |
Mark S. Teachout, PhD, MS, is an Associate Professor in the H-E-B School of Business and Administration, at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX, where he teaches Human Resource Management in Healthcare, Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior and Statistics courses in graduate and undergraduate programs. Earlier, he was the Assistant Vice President of Learning and Performance Solutions, at USAA, and a senior scientist at the USAF Research Lab. He is an HR, OD and training consultant, with over 25 years of combined experience in research & development, Fortune 200, academic and consulting settings. He has assisted private sector, public sector, government, military, and non-profit organizations in organizational change, strategic planning, training, leadership & management development, and program evaluation. He has published numerous articles and reports and delivered presentations on organizational change, training, and improving performance in the workplace. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Old Dominion University. His research interests include a broad range of areas relating to selection, training, performance, organizational culture and change in the workplace. |
