“Paradigm Shifts and Disruption -- the Impact of Globalized Healthcare”
1st Annual Medical Tourism Research Conference
Jan. 27th to 29th, 2010
Marriott Courtyard Riverwalk Hotel, San Antonio, Texas
The Center for Medical Tourism Research (CMTR- also see www.medicaltourismresearch.org) is very proud to present the 1st Annual Medical Tourism Research Conference. As the first academic center devoted to medical tourism research, CMTR is proud to convene the initial gathering of the world’s medical tourism researchers to discuss this historic globalization trend in healthcare. We will be assembling January 27-29, 2010 at the new Marriott Courtyard Riverwalk Hotel, a historic, converted church on the banks of San Antonio’s amazing downtown Riverwalk.
The conference theme is “Paradigm Shifts and Disruption -- the Impact of Globalized Healthcare”. Medical Tourism is a disruptive influence on established healthcare systems and should continue to change the dominant paradigm in providing medical care for many years. The conference will address a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to), these themes:
- Genesis & drivers of medical tourism
- Legal & ethical issues in medical tourism and the globalization of healthcare
- Assessments or evaluations of medical tourism practices (including accreditation)
- Operational issues in delivering globalized healthcare
- Marketing & consumer behavior in medical tourism
We look forward to seeing you in sunny San Antonio, at the Riverwalk and historic Alamo!
A special thank you goes to our conference sponsors- Frost & Sullivan (Board Member Lunch), BusinessWeek (Keynote Speaker and Dinner), Methodist Healthcare System (2nd Day Lunch and the Tour), Medcentrek (2nd Day Breakfast), Deloitte (Final Keynote Speaker and Breakfast), and BioMedSA (Day 3 Sponsor)!
