Zoom is a video-conferencing service that offers two types of services: free and paid licenses. This product is used for conducting interactive, video meetings online.
Anyone can sign up for the free service, which provides unlimited access time for one-to-one sessions and a forty-minute time limit for sessions involving three to 50 people.
The free option is a great one for students who might wish to setup brief online sessions with others. Users are able to connect via desktop, tablet and mobile devices by downloading the Zoom app. The service provides screen sharing, chat, and other interactive tools.
For staff and faculty, UIW has purchased a site license. That will allow university employees to have unlimited time with with up to 50 participants.
When signing in, use your UIW credentials and password at https://uiw.zoom.us. You can also access this through the new Blackboard shell for courses.
And click on this printable quick-reference guide to get you started.
Zoom also has an Outlook "ribbon" plug-in to make scheduling as simple as a calendar invite. Users can attend with a PC or Mac, tablet or mobile phone.
